Founded in 2025, EMPMB is based in Pietermaritzburg at Netcare St Anne’s Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal’s only private accredited Level 1 Trauma Centre. Our team forms part of the hospital’s expanded emergency department, bringing the region comprehensive, 24/7 emergency medicine services. From chest pain and stroke to complex trauma and workplace injuries, our specialists are equipped to manage any emergency, at any time.

Led by Dr Steve Feris, Emergency Medicine Specialist, the team works closely with the trauma and multidisciplinary units at Netcare St Anne’s to ensure that every patient receives timely, expert-led care. Dr Feris has over a decade of clinical experience with a special interest in toxicology and stroke, underpinned by a strong background in critical care and healthcare systems improvement. With an MBA focusing on system optimisation and digital education, he is committed to advancing patient safety, operational efficiency, and training within emergency and critical care settings, particularly outside traditional academic hubs.

Through a blend of in-person, telephonic, and digital consultations, we aim to make quality emergency care more accessible to communities across KwaZulu-Natal.
